Kai's baptism on december 14. 2008

Kai's Taufe am 14. Dezember 2008

the highlight of our trip to germany last year was kai's baptism in the same church that i was baptized in as an infant. we chose to have him baptized in germany because most of the important guests, like two of his godparents for example, are german and because - how shall i put it - to me, i just would not have felt the same here. take a look at my hometown 'dom' and you will understand why - build in the 900 ADs it's simply breathtaking.

der hoehepunkt unserer deutschlandreise im letzten jahr war kai's taufe, im gleichen dom in dem ich damals getauft wurde. die entscheidung seine taufe in deutschland zu halten war einfach, da die meisseten wichtigen teilnehmer deutsch sind und unser dom von 900 AD der feier angemessen schien.

... who tried to convince up that the water was warmed? after sitting in this bowl for any longer that 1 minute nothing could stay warm in this grand (unheated) shelter

... wer wollte uns weiss machen, das das weihwasser temperiert war? ist ja auch ganz unmoeglich, wenn es auch nur eine minute hier gestanden haette (statt der 30 min)

... wir beendigen unsere tauffeier am Marienaltar, wo wir Maria anerkennung schenken, fuer ihre fuersorge und barmherzigkeit und dafuer danken das sie unseren retter sicher in ihren armen trug nachdem er geboren wurde um unsere schuld zu tragen.

... i had to put this one in as well, just to show off the handsome father of my son i am married to and because there are few chances to see mark in a suit and if you missed this one, you might have to wait another 5 years or so.
... ich musste dieses bild einfach mit hineinsetzen. nach 8 jahren laesst er mir noch immer das herz schneller schlagen. und zudem ist es eine der wenigen momente in denen man mark in einem anzug sieht ... wer ihn verpasst hat wird wohl weitere fuenf jahre warten muessen










... the minister asked if he could have one of our doves to keep for future sermons. he liked how we reminded of the presence of the holy spirit this way

... der pfarrer bat um eine unserer tauben fuer zukuenftige predigen. er mochte wie wir die anwesenheit des heiligen geistes auf diese weise bedacht und darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben
